VEHICLES AND HORSES
It is unlawful at all times to drive a vehicle or ride a horse on the public beach
or within public marsh areas, except for police vehicles, county vehicles operated
while cleaning or working on the beach, emergency vehicles, and approved beach
franchise vehicles. Bicycles, tricycles, or similar type vehicles are allowed on the
beach year round.
SLEEPING ON PUBLIC BEACH
Sleeping on a public beach or public access between 9 p.m. and sunrise is
prohibited.
SURFING AND SURFBOARDS
Don't use a surfboard in a manner that endangers any other person in the water.
Surfboard leashes (seven foot maximum length) must be worn at all times. Surfing
is prohibited within 300 feet of a fishing pier. There are designated surfing areas
from May 15 ­ September 15 between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.
LITTERING
It is unlawful to throw or deposit garbage, waste or refuse of any kind on the
beach or in the water.
ITEMS LEFT ON THE BEACH
Chairs, umbrellas, surfboards, floats, rafts, tents, cabanas, volleyball nets, etc. may
not be left on the beach when not actually in use. Items left on the beach between
the hours of 10pm -7:30am may be removed and discarded.
SHARK FISHING
It is unlawful to bait, fish for, or otherwise attract sharks to an area within one
mile of the beach.
ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES
It is unlawful to possess any type of alcoholic beverage on public beaches or public
access.
OBSTRUCTING LIFEGUARD'S VIEW
Beach umbrellas and other beach implements must be a least 10 feet behind
lifeguard stands and generally parallel with the shoreline. No obstruction should
be placed so that it interferes with a lifeguard's ability to see the water and the
lifeguard stands on either side.
GOLF CARTS
Golf carts are prohibited on the beach at all times in North Myrtle Beach. Golf
carts must obey the rules of the road and be parked in either regular or designated
golf cart parking spaces. Golf carts cannot be driven on primary roads or sidewalks.

WHEELCHAIR ACCESS
Majority of North Myrtle Beach hotels have handicap and wheelchair access to
common and public areas. (Visit the North Myrtle Beach Parks & Recreation
Department to reserve free beach wheelchairs.)
